Women’s Yoga

About the classes

I run women's yoga classes at:

Halton Village Hall on Monday nights, 20.30-21.45.

Halton Village Hall, Old School Close, Halton Village, Bucks. HP22 5NG.

So many ladies are put off doing yoga as they feel 'they won't be able to do it' or all the other ladies will be younger and more flexible and they will feel out of place. My classes are VERY DIFFERENT from ‘drop in’ gym classes. I absolutely do not care what age you are, what shape you might be, how fit you are, or if you have any yoga experience. I have ladies who come alone, ladies who come with their friends and ladies who come with their daughters.

This life is lived at 1,000 mph. We all have family, work, commitments and deadlines. It is so important you make time just for you and this is what my classes do.

My classes are surrounded by atmospheric lighting, lovely aromatherapy and soft, relaxing music. It is a chance for you to switch off, to breathe and to relax.

What type of yoga do we practice in class?

There are many types of yoga, and these classes are a beautiful blend of different styles.

We incorporate hatha yoga (a physical and mental practice that aims to prepare the body and mind); vinyasa yoga (a faster-paced, aerobic-style workout where poses flow into one another); yin yoga (a meditative style that involves stretches and poses that help improve flexibility and mobility), and restorative yoga (focusing on winding down after a long day and relaxing the mind).

We practice these different types of yoga by creating our own unique practices, which we work through on a rolling three-week cycle:

1) Luna (the pace fluctuates with the phases of the moon)

2) CorePlay (a vinyasa or flow class, with a set routine of postures)

3) Chakra classes (which work on stimulating different energy centres in the body)

LUNA

This is a graceful, flowing and feminine style of yoga but deep like water. It is in tune with the Yin, Lunar and feminine elements. The focus of our Luna classes is to honour ourselves, be kind, and to take the time to relax and release. This practice offers calming, slower-paced, ‘internal’ poses that are appropriate for women throughout their monthly cycle, and these sessions can be particularly beneficial for those looking to regulate the menstrual cycle, enhance fertility and correct hormonal imbalances or fluctuations from PMS and Menopausal symptoms. Every session has a different focus and is based around the energy of the moon.

COREPLAY

This is a dynamic yoga practice focused on strengthening the BAP’s - Back, Abs and Pelvic floor. You’ll get a full body, strengthening yoga practice which will leave you feeling energized. The flowing class is made up of a set sequence of postures that will help you to develop muscular strength and flexibility over time, and see the benefits of your practice. The practice allows you to tone the muscles or “yang” tissues of the body but is designed especially for women, focusing on the areas key to your long lasting health and happiness. It’s suitable for all levels of yoga practitioner, allowing you to progress at your own pace.

CHAKRA SERIES

The word ‘chakra’ means ‘disk’ or ‘wheel’ and refers to the energy centres in our body. These wheels or disks of spinning energy each correspond to certain nerve bundles and major organs. To function at their best, your chakras need to stay open, or balanced. Chakra yoga poses help add mental, spiritual, and physical balance. Across the year we practice sequences designed to promote energy flow and focus within these seven chakras, stimulating or unblocking them as we move and breathe.

Practising a combination of relaxing, restorative yoga coupled with a dynamic, strength-building practice is one of the best ways to release stress. Too much intensity can lead to burn out and simply add to the stresses placed on your mind and body; too slow or gentle a practice and your mind can easily wander. It is the combination of a yin and yang practice that will help you both develop and bring balance into your practice, and ultimately life.

Many women fall in love with the type of practice they had previously shied away from, and remember these classes are for ALL women.

2026 timetable

Classes run every Monday evening, including bank holidays, with the exception of Mar 30, Apr 6, Jul 6, Aug 3, Oct 26, Dec 21, Dec 28.

What do I need to bring?

I will provide all yoga equipment (mats, blankets, pillows, and eye masks) to use at your discretion. It is your choice if you would like to bring your own mat in addition to place on top.

I would advise that you bring a bottle of water and wear some loose comfortable clothes for your yoga practice, including layers so you can easily adjust depending on whether you are lying still in relaxation or being more physical.
